Wilkes was announced as the third head coach in the history of the Auburn University at Montgomery softball program on June 17, 2022.
Wilkes joined the Warhawks in 2012 and served as a graduate assistant with the program during the 2013 season. She was hired as the team's assistant coach in the fall of 2013. She was tabbed as the program's Interim Head Coach briefly during June of 2022.
From 2021 to 2022, as an assistant coach at AUM, Wilkes coached two CoSIDA academic all-Americans, 21 NFCA all-America scholar-athletes, and three NFCA all-Americans. In 2022 Wilkes and the Warhawks won their first-ever NCAA regional after defeating Alabama Huntsville in the seventh game of the regional to advance to the super regionals. AUM was able to best Valdosta State in three games to make their first appearance in the D2 World Series. The Warhawks were able to win their first game of the World Series against Seton Hill. Adding to her NCAA-era coaching honors, Wilkes has been a part of two GSC conference tournament championship teams and has, coached five GSC all-conference players, and tallied NFCA south region coaching staff of the year honors in 2021 and 2022.
Wilkes has enjoyed a highly-decorated career on the coaching staff at AUM, including a pair of NAIA National Championships, four national tournament appearances and the program’s first Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament championship. She was a part of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s Coaching Staff of the Year in 2014 and 2015, while also earning NFCA East Region Coaching Staff of the Year and NFCA Assistant Coach of the Year honors following the 2016 season. The Warhawks have recorded at least 44 wins in all four of her seasons with the team, including a school-record 53 wins last season, and are 188-36 (.839).
In her first four years as an assistant coach, Wilkes has coached 21 all-conference performers and seven NAIA All-Americans. Former standout pitcher Cassie Jones was also tabbed the NAIA Player of the Year under her leadership. The Warhawks had 16 SSAC All-Academic performers and four NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Wilkes joined the Warhawks after a two-year playing career at Faulkner University, where she played both softball and volleyball.
In her senior season with the Lady Eagles, Wilkes started all 43 games, hitting .298 with a .413 on-base percentage, eight doubles and two home runs. Her 29 RBIs were second-best on the team. Academically, Wilkes was Faulkner’s 2011 Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.
She earned first team all-conference and NAIA honorable mention recognition in 2010 after finishing with a .344 batting average, 13 doubles, three home runs and 39 RBIs. Her .494 on-base percentage was best among Faulkner starters. In her two seasons at Jeff State, she hit a combined .320 with 23 doubles, five home runs and 51 RBIs.
Wilkes earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Faulkner University in 2011. She earned her master’s from AUM in physical education.
Following one year as the graduate assistant with the program, Wilkes was announced as the assistant coach for the softball team in the fall of 2013.
